I don't know if anybody's interested but this is a good read. The law that ripped America in two
It's surprising how much you forget you know. When I was a kid I read anything on Civil War history I could get my hands on.At that time I was lucky my old man was stationed at Ft.Dietrick and Ft. Ritchie Md. so almost every major northern battlefield was within 150 miles.Gettysburg and Antietam were roughly 30 miles away.So when I see Emmitsburg and Tarrytown road or pike I remember playing football in those towns. So a lot of shit went on in this vicinity.I loved every minute of it.I've been to a lot of battlefields but the one I like the best is Manassas or Bull Run.It's a beautiful place but one place in particular is just great. There's is an old rail line where Stonewall Jackson's men were positioned in the second battle. The layout of the land is still the same as it was then. But the last time I went it was getting dark and walked back in there and boy was it spooky. If you go it's the unfinished railroad hike stop # 6 on the tour it's a 1.2 mile hike but worth it.
That's the the old rail bed.
